INTRODUCTION TO 3D PRINTING

Want to have a go at 3D printing but don't know where to start? Now's your chance! We willguide you through the process of making a 3D model in TinkerCAD, setting it up for printingusing Cura and then printing out a small example on our Ultimaker 3D Printer.3D printing is a game-changing process for making things. This workshop will allow you toexplore this fascinating field which increasingly has applications in medicine, engineering, and, of course, space exploration!

3D SCANNING FOR 3D PRINTING

Sometimes objects can be too difficult to create in acomputer program or perhaps you’re just better creating things with your hands and want to replicate it in software. 3D scanning is a solution that’s a fast and easy of making a digital version of a physical object. We’ll show you how to manipulate these digital files andreplicate the object on a 3D printer.

PARAMETRIC DESIGN CHALLENGE

Learn about the exciting world of parametric design. This is a computer 3D modelling technique that allows you to generate free form shapes by creating a set ofparameters or rules that inform the final shape of the 3D model. Once you’ve created your parametric template, you can then modify the shape at will by simply altering the data or parameters of the 3D model. Throughout this workshop you will build up skills which will be put to use in real world situations.

PROTOTYPING FOR 3D PRINTING

This workshop will give you a brief overview of Fusion 360 and teach you the basics of creating 3D CAD models within the program. By the end of the session you will be able to create 2D sketches with accurate dimensions, extrude those sketches into 3D models, edit your modeland learn how to export your design for manufacture.
