COURSE
Q. CAN ANYONE APPLY?
All are welcome to apply either as an individual, group or class age 8 or above in the United Arab Emirates. Whether you already have knowledge on the topics or are a beginner – there is something for everyone. All beginners workshops will assume no previous knowledge ofcomputer science or technology. To get the most out of the workshops it is expected thatattendees will be comfortable with using a computer.
Due to capacity constraints, only public schools based in Al Ain will be permitted to arrange visits to the Innovation Hub at this time. The Innovation Hub will be opened to public and private schools in other areas in the UAE in the near future. Please contact ADEK or look for updates to the website to see when your school will be able to register.
Q. CAN I APPLY TO MORE THAN ONE WORKSHOP?
Yes, you can apply to as many courses as you wish. Please note, however, that you must complete a separate application form for each, and you do not have to complete all your courses at the same time.
Q. WHAT SHOULD I DO TO PREPARE FOR
THE WORKSHOPS?
You can research your class and topics by visiting the resource page and selecting your chosen workshop’s resources.
Q. HOW CAN I FIND OUT MORE INFORMATION ON THE WORKSHOP?
Our website has information about our workshops, including course descriptions, upcoming course schedule, and online registration. This website contains the following information on the workshops; Maker Space introductory and topic information, Machine Learning introductory and topic information, App Factory introductory and topic information, with course resources subjected in Maker Space, App Factory and Machine Learning.
Q. IS THERE AN EXAM?
There is no exam, but the online portal does have check points where we test yourunderstanding of the course material.
Q. HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IN A CLASS?
The capacity of each course is shown against each course, please refer to the relevant course information page.
Q. DO I NEED TO BRING MY OWN EQUIPMENT?
Not to worry, the Innovation Hub is equipped with all the software and hardware that you’ll need to complete your course.
REGISTRATION FAQ
Q. IF MY SCHEDULE CHANGES, CAN I RESCHEDULE?
Yes, if your schedule changes you can reschedule your class free of charge. We only ask that you do this 48 hours in advance so we can give the place to another student and guarantee a place for you that suits you best.
Q. WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY?
As the courses are open to the public for education reasons there is no cancellation policy. Dueto the high number of applicants, please confirm in writing 48 hours before you are due to start your course so others may attend in your place. Please confirm in writing the cancellation ofyour place by emailing innovation-hub-sip@uaeu.ac.ae or calling the science and innovation park on +971 3 713 4043.
GENERAL FAQ
Q. I DON’T HAVE A CAR, IS THERE ANY OTHER TRANSPORT AVAILABLE?
You will be provided transportation for you and your class for pick up and drop off. If you are coming individually or with a group, you can easily get access if you are in Al Ain either by car ortaxi to get to the Science and Innovation Park campus.
Q. ARE THERE PLACES NEAR BY WHERE I CAN GET FOOD?
Yes definitely, the cafeteria in the building sells sandwiches and coffee, or there is a rugby club,which is a short drive down the road where you can get dinners.
