About the App Factory 

 

The App Factory introduces you to app writing, computing, virtual reality (VR), web site design and small digital controllers for use in inventions. Attend these accessible courses and you will quickly be able to start your own projects.

Schools can book in to Android Apps, Raspberry Pi and Micro:bit and can bring a class of 30, normally for a four hour visit. Schools can book in to one of the following pairs of courses:
Introduction to App Inventor with Finger painting app,

Introduction to Raspberry Pi with Create a security alarm orIntroduction to Micro:bit with Exploring sensors.

Other users can select any of the courses but note that you need to complete some basic courses before you can progress to more advanced ones. Please refer to the ‘required course’ section for this information.

APP FACTORY COURSES

 

ANDRIOD APPS

Four courses are available that introduce you to app writing. Using the tool App inventor you will learn to develop simple games and quizzes which open

the door to more complicated projects.

 

 

RASPBERRY PI

A Raspberry Pi is a small and cheap one chip computer great for use as a controller in your projects whether they are robots, home inventions or games. We have four courses that introduceyou to this flexible piece of kit.

 

 

MICRO: BIT

Micro: bit is a simple one chip computer with a display of leds that is a fun tool for learning how to programme. These four courses introduce you quickly to programming and how to work with hardware sensors and displays.

 

 

INTRODUCTION TO CODING VR

This course introduces you to the tools and techniques needed to write applications for virtual reality.

 

 

INTRODUCTION TO WEB DESIGN

This course introduces you to making web sites and the code needed to structure them. A great introduction to making your own web site.
